Separation from the US government cost ICANN 32 million dollars

ICANN Corporation has published information on the costs incurred during the process of IANA functions transition from the US government to the Internet community, which came to an end in October last year. It turned out to be quite a significant amount of US$32 million. It's noteworthy that almost a half of all this money (47% or 15 million dollars) went to external legal advisers who worked on the legal support of the project.

The second most expensive category is “other professional services”. This vague definition includes salaries of lobbyists, PR experts, promotion of projects as well as translators, etc. They cost 8.3 million dollars (26% of the total sum) to ICANN. ICANN personnel that worked on this project for the same period received US$6.1 million (19%).
