Share of parked new gTLD names is over 65%

Registrants of names in new gTLDs still take their time with creating web resources in the new domain zones. The majority of domain names remain parked, reports The Domains, quoting ntldstats.com. However, in the end of October and the beginning of November the number of parked names increased dramatically.

As of October 25, the number of parked names in new gTLDs was estimated at 13,175,000. On November 2nd it was 16,374,000 already, an increase of more than 3 million names. Thus, more than 65% of all registered names in new domain zones are parked. (Names not connected with domain servers and also the ones that lead to non-existing pages are also counted as parked).

It should be noted however that the number reached in the beginning of November is not a record. The biggest number of parked names in new gTLDs was reached in July this year and amounted to 17,729,000.
