Korean localized versions of .COM and .NET have been launched

Verisign reported in its blog that generic top-level domains .닷컴 and .닷넷 are now available for general registration. These domains are internationalized versions of domains .COM and .NET (respectively) for Korean language, they use phonemic letter Hangul – the main type of writing used in South and North Korea.

Verisign report reads that registration of names in the corresponding domains gives new possibilities for business to express themselves on the rapidly growing Korean market. Moreover, individual users speaking Korean gain new possibilities for self-expression and identification on the global network as well. However, it’s easy to understand that in both cases we are talking exclusively about South Korea. Total number of Korean-speaking people on the planet is about 80 million as of today.
