Over the last three years German discount provider Hetzner Online was the leader in the segment of hosting services in the national zone of Russia .RU. According to analytical service Statonline.ru, in July 2016 Russian domain registrar and hosting provider REG.RU managed to become number one with 11.3% share in .RU, leaving Hetzner Online behind (11%). Timeweb with 9.3% is on the third place.
In the domain zone .РФ REG.RU also is on the first place (13.7%) on the hosting market. Garant-Park-Telecom (10.3%) is on the second place, Timeweb (8.3%) is on the third place. Three leaders in hosting in .SU zone: REG.RU (17.5%), RU-CENTER (10.6%) and a German company Hetzner Online (9.3%).
“This is a very positive news. Russian market of hosting is developing and strengthening. It’s good that today the leader is a domain names registrar. Offering a client a whole complex of services affects the renewal of the domain name and the registration of the new names for client’s projects quite a lot. This approach is useful for the development of Russian domain zones and popularization of Russian top-level domains”, said Andrey Vorobyev, Director at the Coordination Center for TLD RU/РФ.
