XYZ.com registry can celebrate success: the number of names in the generic top-level domain .XYZ has exceeded 5.5 million, The Domains said, referring to RegistrarStats.com. The $.01 promotion when domain names were sold for 1-2 cents per annual registration to mark the domain’s second anniversary has substantially contributed to these high figures. The two-day promotion was later extended for another day.
.XYZ has basically added somewhere around 2.5 million registrations. Now it ranks 4th in the world and has more registered domain names than .INFO. The only generic top-level domain name extensions to have more domain registrations than .XYZ are .COM, .NET and .ORG (national domains are not included in their stats).
.XYZ is not going to rest on its laurels: Domain names will be still available for as low as $.20 a domain per annual registration for the rest of June.
