Chinese company becomes top registrant of new gTLD’s

The Chinese company West263 has become the top registrant of new gTLD’s, reports The Domains, citing ntldstats data. Until last week, North Sound Names, the property of famous business manager and domain investor Frank Schilling, has been the top registrant of new gTLD’s since the new gTLD domain program’s inception.. Schilling also owns major registrant Uniregistry, and the overwhelming majority of North Sound Names brands are registered at new gTLD’s managed by this company.

According to ntldstats data, North Sound Names owned over 235,000 new gTLD’s last week, with West263 exceeding the 250,000 mark. This is the logical consequence of the domain boom now sweeping China. Moreover, Chinese registrants account for 34 of the 40 major registrants of new gTLD’s.
