ICANN corporation announced in its official blog that the 57th meeting would be relocated. It was supposed to take place from October 29th till November 4th this year in Puerto Rico. However, due to concerns related to the spread of Zika virus (an acute infectious disease, outbreak of which affected countries of Central and South America). American cities Orlando and Las Vegas as well as Chinese Macao were seen as alternatives to Puerto Rico for hosting ICANN57. In the end it was decided to hold the meeting in Hyderabad, India. The dates of the meeting have also changes: it will take place from 3rd to 9th of November.
This is the second ICANN’s meeting in a row that the corporation has to relocate because of Zika virus threat. Earlier on, ICANN56, which was supposed to take place in June in Panama, was moved to Helsinki.
