New domains continue to grow not only by the number of registrations but also in price. This is evidenced by the recent data of Sold.Domains webpage that keeps track of all deals involving names registered in the new gTLDs. Up until recently the leader of the rating was 88.xin domain that was purchased in November last year for 180 thousand dollars.
However, last week the leader changed. This happened during the auction organized by .XYZ Registry held at the site of a Chinese registrar West.cn. The most expensive lot was 1.XYZ domain name. During the auction it was purchased for an equivalent of $182,971. Thus, 1.XYZ is now the most expensive domain name in all gTLDs.
