First quarter of the year is coming to an end. Despite the continuing rapid growth of the domain market caused primarily by the activity of Chinese investors there were no record deals in the first three months of 2016. According to Domain Name Journal, no domain managed to reach a milestone of 1 million dollars, although the leader of DNJournal rating was close to this. Domain TP.com was purchased on March 3rd for $920,000.
There are 8 domain names registered in .COM domain zone among the first ten in the rating. Another two spots are occupied by domains Recovery.net – 200 000 dollars and 9.xyz – 170 250 dollars. They top the list of the largest sales in domain zones apart from .COM. ccTLDs have their own rating. The leader here is a one letter domain C.gl purchased also in the beginning of March for 85 thousand dollars. .GL is a national domain of Greenland, however, it’s used in many different ways. For example, .GL is sometimes interpreted as a wish of good luck, Google corporation uses the domain for it’s service of links reduction – Goo.gl.
