ICANN will hold its 56th meeting in Helsinki, Finland, according to Domain Incite. The news was later confirmed on ICANN’s official website. The forum was due to meet in Panama City, Panama (Central America), but an outbreak of the Zika virus, an acute infectious disease, made the ICANN board change the venue amid the virus spreading across South and Central America.
The 56th meeting will now be held in Helsinki on June 27-30. No information is available yet about the 57th meeting. According to the ICANN schedule, it is to take place in San Juan, Puerto Rico, which is also in the Zika-affected region.
