On February 10, the Council of the Coordination Center for Top Level Domains (Coordination Center for TLD RU) held a regular meeting to discuss the organization’s budget for 2016. The draft budget was unanimously approved.
The council also approved its statute and the procedure for its formation, and recommended that the general meeting of founders approve these documents. In keeping with the new procedure, the number of council members may not exceed 17. Each founder names a representative to the center's council and an Internet industry expert. The council also includes the Coordination Center's director, as well as one center's staff member and one industry expert, both of whom are appointed by the director. The term of office of the experts appointed by the founders and by the director may not exceed three years. The term of office of founders’ representatives and the center's staff member appointed by the director is unlimited.
The statute significantly enhances the role of registrars in the council's activities and allows the Registrars Committee chair or another person duly authorized by registrars to attend council meetings on matters related to the registration of second-level domain names in the .RU и .РФ domains. This approach enables the council to promptly elicit registrars’ opinion and receive explanations on these matters as necessary.
The meeting also considered the procedure for the convocation of the general meeting of Coordination Center founders and drafting an agenda for the founders’ general meeting. The council approved the proposed draft document and recommended it for approval at the Coordination Center founders’ general meeting.
