56th ICANN meeting that was supposed to take place in Panama on 27-30 of June is being moved. There haven’t been any official reports on this yet; however, this news was published on Domain Incite information website that quoted ICANN insiders. According to Domain Incite’s data, the new location hasn't been elected yet. The reason for the move is the outbreak of Zika virus in Central and South America. It’s an acute infectious disease which is characterized by quite severe course.
We remind that the fate of the upcoming 55th ICANN meeting that is supposed to take place in Morocco in the beginning of March also causes distress among several observers. There is a high risk of terrorist attacks in North Africa. At the same time Morocco was supposed to host ICANN’s forum way back in February last year, but the meeting was moved to Singapore due to Ebola fever threat in Africa.
