President of ICANN Fadi Chehadé, whose term ends in March this year, it seems has finally decided on a new place of work. He will be a senior advisor to the Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF) – a Swiss non-governmental organization that is mostly famous for annual meeting in Davos. This is stated in the press release of WEF. Chehadé will supervise a project of WEF called Global Challenge Initiative on the Future of the Internet devoted to the development problems of the global network and its management.
Earlier on, Fadi Chehadé surprised the observers by announcing in August last year that he would join a relatively small investment company ABRY Partners as advisor. At that time many thought that this position is not high-rank enough for a person who is accustomed to decide the fate of the Internet. However, Chehadé himself pointed out that he would work at ABRY Partners part-time and planned to do more things.
Fadi Chehadé announced his voluntary early retirement in May last year. His successor hasn’t been announced yet, however, it’s obvious that’s it will be known very soon.
