Twitter buys Periscope domain names

Rapid growth in popularity of a life-streaming service called Periscope made its owner – Twitter – take measures to protect its “offspring” in the domain space. DomainNameWire reports that in the end of last week Twitter registered 75 names at the same time in .COM domain zone that could be related to the service’s usage. The names differ greatly from PeriscopeCats.com to PeriscopeValentines.com and from PeriscopeMakeup.com to PeriscopeGamers.com.

Twitter seems to be protecting its brand. This is when a company registers all names related to the name of the product. However, the experts doubt that this tactics is effective. It’s hardly possible for the company to register all domain names that use the word Periscope.
