More than 65% of the people who registered their own domain names are familiar with the New gTLD program and know about one new domain name extension. This figure doesn't exceed 45% among the Internet users without domain name. This is according to dnsbelgium, referring to two research studies that ICANN has had conducted. The best scores are obtained in Asia, where no fewer than 70% of registrants are aware of the existence of the new gTLDs. The residents of Asian countries are also inclined to believe that there are new opportunities of the global network use thanks to new gTLDs.
61% of registrants reported that while registering they considered choosing a new extension or would be ready to use new domains. 52% of the ordinary users who don't have a domain name reported the same point of view. Besides, the favourites among ordinary internet users turned out to be .EMAIL, .LINK and .CLUB. Finally, registrants keep choosing their extension from among the best known options, and the price is of lesser importance.
