New .FILM gTLD has been launched this week. According to Forbes.com, Motion Picture Domain Registry operating it considers the domain neither more nor less a key for building relationships between the film industry and the Internet. They are far from strong and are constantly being darkened by incidents like posting online the movies, which haven't been released yet, or fake site creation with popular movies and cinema stars. According to Motion Picture Domain Registry, the new domain is able to prevent these actions, strengthening trust and respect between the movie business and Internet users.
Frankly speaking, it is difficult to understand how the domain can prevent piracy and posting of new torrent movies. But as for information source authenticity, everything is just obvious. Unlike earlier launched .MOVIE, the registration in .FILM zone is limited. Only the film industry representatives participated in relevant professional organizations can register names here. Their list can be found on go.film. The Guild of Russian Producers, a structure in the Union of Cinematographers of Russia, is in this list.
