ICANN improves a "mirror" of the L-Root

ICANN and CZ.NIC uniting leading providers and largest Internet companies of the Czech Republic announced the beginning of the first working stage on mirror update of the L-Root DNS server located in Prague. Increase of stability, security and fault tolerance of global network in Europe is called as the purpose of work. It is told in the official ICANN's statement that after finish of work the possibilities of the L-Root server will be 500 times greater that the traffic volume, processed today. It means that the updated server will be able to process tens of millions of demands per second.

The L-Root is one of 13 DNS root servers and the only one directly controlled by ICANN. As well as the majority of servers, it is distributed. Its Prague "mirror" was launched in 2009. Three "mirrors" of the L-Root work in Russia as well - in Moscow, Yekaterinburg and Rostov-on-Don.
