As it was previously supposed, the Sunrise in the new .SEX gTLD is going quite successfully. According to The Domains, 854 names were registered for the end of the last week. There are a lot of companies which are very far from the actions meant by domain name among registrants. McDonalds and Lego, for example, registered their names in it. Football fans are likely to be amused by the fact that Manchester United, a popular football club, registered at once three names in new domain - ManchesterUnited.sex, ManUnited.sex and Manutd.sex.
However, the fact that Alphabet.sex is registered in new domain zone by Google is even more interesting. Google creates new holding Alphabet, it is already well-known. However, it is possible to register only the names entered in depositary of trademarks registered by Trademark Clearinghouse during the Sunrise-period. For this purpose, in a situation with Google the corresponding trademark has to be registered at first in the Office of Patents and Trademarks US. Meanwhile, there is no information that Google has at least addressed with the registration application to Alphabet. However, the prospects of such address look very vague as the name Alphabet have several companies only in the USA. In Europe, Alphabet is a large car maker BMW subsidiary which owns the Alphabet.com domain. In a word, it is impossible to understand how Google was succeeded to register the Alphabet.sex during the Sunrise.
