Verizon, the largest in the USA and one of the world's largest telecommunication companies, addressed a complaint to the National Arbitration Forum. The Verizon.porn registered on June 4 this year by Edam Rotmen, the resident of New York State, became a subject of the address. Verizon.porn must become the first domain which destiny will be decided by jury in the framework of Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) in the new .PORN gTLD. However, there aren’t special doubts about the result of this trial.
It is curious that Verizon received the VerizonWireless.porn under its control at the end of June. Then the case didn't reach trial, the address of company’s lawyers directly to the domain registrant must have been enough. Certainly, all this is not evidence of any increased attention of telecommunication giant to the porn industry. It is rather about close Verizon attention to the domain sphere and unwillingness to associate its name with doubtful (in the eyes of American public) concepts. So, the opportunity to register its name in another "adult" domain, for example, didn't interest the company at all – .ADULT – starting along with .PORN. But Verizon didn't spare more than $2,000 to register the Verizon.sucks in "the most offensive" new gTLD.
