8.XYZ will be put up for auction

The DOMAINfest.asia conference will be held in Macau (China) from September 4th-7th. An auction of domain names, for which more than 150 domains are put up, will become one of the points of its program. An absolute hit of auction promises to become the 8.XYZ earlier reserved by the XYZ.com registry for its own needs and offered for sale for the first time.

There are, at least, two reasons. Firstly, short names are always in higher demand because of the simplicity of memorization and ease of input in address line. The second reason is more essential, however. The matter is the Chinese attach great importance to number symbols. The number 8 of course is the luckiest one in Chinese culture, symbolizing wealth and success. This year several domain names containing the number 8 have sold for big money. For example, the domain name 8.co sold at Heritage Auction for $115k, the W8.com changed the owner for $140,000, and the 88888.com sold for $245k. It should be taken into account a special attention riveted on the new .XYZ after Google registered the domain for its new corporate site (ABC.XYZ). Proceeding from all listed, observers predict that the 8.XYZ domain name can be sold more than for a million dollars.
