The period of public registration in the new .GOOGLE gTLD started yesterday. In this case, it is a mere formality, as .GOOGLE, certainly, is a dot-brand, and only Google can register names in it (or it is already more correct to speak Alphabet?). Nevertheless, many observers connect the expectations of revolution in domain space with this event.
As it had been previously reported, the domain for new Alphabet holding which will be included by Google was registered in the.XYZ zone - ABC.XYZ. The head of XYZ.com registry Daniel Negari called this move "the ultimate validation". Certainly, he meant recognition of viability and success of his .XYZ, but, perhaps, the same can be said about all new domains. If there is a player capable to shake .COM hegemony in the domain market, it is the Google with an enormous traffic of its services.
Google is obviously to pay special attention to new domains. It is worth reminding that it applied for 101 new gTLDs, and already has 42 delegated domains today. Google engineers are constantly emphasizing that algorithms of their searcher don't divide domains into new and old ones. At last, it is said on the Google Registry web site that the corporation intends to use .GOOGLE, .YOUTUBE and .PLUS "for Google products". We seem to see in the nearest future what this use and its scale will be.
