ICANN gets hacked again

Last night it became known of hacker attack to ICANN, Inc. It happened last week, and, as a result, cybercriminals succeeded to get access to data of unknown number of ICANN.org registered users. There are account names and users’ passwords, their e-mail addresses, and the user settings (display language, information about the subscription to newsletters, etc.) among the stolen information.

ICANN emphasizes that passwords were stored in encrypted form. Nevertheless, users have been already notified of the need to change their passwords. First of all, this is the case of those who use the same password on several websites. Also, ICANN expresses full confidence that attack didn't affect IANA system. However, the fact of another successful attack to ICANN is very sad. The corporation claiming the solution of key global network management questions happened to be vulnerable to hackers once again. This cyberattack has become, at least, the third serious incident connected with ICANN’s cybersafety since December of 2014.
