.COM and .NET are growing and becoming more expensive

VeriSign, Inc., the operator of the .COM and .NET gTLDs, reported financial results for the second quarter of 2015.The total revenue of the company for this period accounted 263 million dollars, and net income – 93 million.

The total number of domains in .COM and .NET zones increased by 520 thousand and reached 133,5 million. It is more by 3,1% than it was in the second quarter of last year. The average percent of registration renewal in domains makes 73,4% today (as for an exact assessment of this index it is necessary to wait 45 days after the end of quarter, the figure for the first quarter 2015 is shown). Also the Verisign Inc. announced an increase of registration fee in the .NET domain. The annual fee will increase from $6,79 to $7,46. This increase is coordinated with ICANN and will come into force since February next year.
