CENTR summed up the results of Q2

The data of quarterly CENTR Global TLD Stat Report were published. CENTR unites national domain registries which accounted over 80% of names in all national domain zones. Present data cover the second quarter of 2015.

According to the CENTR Report, 293,8 million names were registered in all gTLD domains for the end of June. Thus, total growth of domain space in the Q2 appeared to be very low – only 0,2%. New general top-level domains (nGTLD) added more active than others did for this period – average growth accounted 9,6%. Nevertheless, their share of domain market is still extremely insignificant. "Old" general domains and national ones continue to divide this market almost equally – 51,7% and 46,2% respectively.

Strictly speaking about national domains, Chinese .CN domains and Brazilian .BR ones showed the highest growth in the second quarter. The first one rose to 2,7%, and the second one – to 2,4%. Russian national .RU domain holds the sixth place in the list of biggest national domains by registrations (according to CENTR, 4,9 million names for the end of Q2). It should be understood, however, that the Tokelau .TK domain, which practices free name distribution to everyone and can be relegated to national domains only on the basis of formal matters, is in the lead with a breakaway in this list.
