Public registration period in the expected new gTLD .LOVE (which operator is the CentralNic Company) started on Friday. Following the results of the first day there were 2956 domain names in a domain zone. The result should be recognized quite impressive, especially taking into account that only 182 domain names were registered during the Sunrise and landrush registration periods.
It is curious that the greatest interest to the new domain was shown by users from China. 51 percent of all names registered during the first day fall to the share of the Chinese registrar west263.com (Chengdu West Dimension Digital Technology Co., Ltd.). Also, a huge number of the names consisting only of figures attracts attention. This is further evidence of Chinese users’ interest. The matter is that Chinese users very often replace hieroglyphic symbols of the traditional Chinese alphabet with figures. This replacement is based on ring similarity of figures and words or syllables pronounced aloud. For example, the phrase "I will always love you" sounds in Chinese almost the same as the sequence of figures 5201314.
