Carlsberg went for beer.

Minds + Machines, a New .BEER gTLD domain administrator, reported a conclusion of agreement with Carlsberg brewing company. Brewing giant has joined to a Pioneer program. In the framework of this program major companies can reserve brand domain names for future use in marketing purposes.

Carlsberg has reserved over 150 brand names in New .BEER domain. There is, for example, a football.beer domain among them, which supervisors were quick to jokingly call a more British domain than gov.uk, an official British government domain. However, brewer’s interest is quite explainable: Carlsberg is a leading sponsor of UEFA EURO 2016, the Barclays Premier League, and Liverpool Football Club. There is baltika.beer among the other domain names reserved by the company – Carlsberg holds 100 percent of Baltika brewery’s shares.

It is possible to assume that Carlsberg’s interest to .BEER domain will focus attention of general public. Affaires are going not in the best way in it so far: from the moment of public registration opening in September last year there are fewer than 8 thousand registered names in its zone file.
