New gTLDs .PORN and .ADULT entered a general availability phase yesterday. After the first day there were 10,038 domain names registered in .PORN and 8,277 domains registered in .ADULT. ICM Registry, that operates there new domain zone is thrilled with the results.
“Our end of year one projections included in our business plan as part of the application process showed 10,000 .porn and 3,000 .adult domain name registrations”, the CEO of ICM Stuart Lawley told thedomains.com. “We are therefore delighted to have exceeded those numbers on Day one of GA. We are particularly pleased with the high numbers from .adult.”
It should be noted that the above figures include names registered during Sunrise period and also within the matching program for .XXX domain holders also operated by ICM. During the program owners of domains in .XXX could register a similar name in .PORN and .ADULT at a discounted price (less than $25 per year). Registration fee in .PORN and .ADULT in GA is about $80 a year.
