.SUCKS 'most sucky' list gains publicity for registry

A peculiar rating has recently appeared on the website of the Vox Populi registry, the operator of the new .SUCKS domain zone. The domain zone, whose name has led to numerous scandals to date, has compiled a list of the “most sucky” people, events and causes that are clear contenders for registration. According to Vox Populi, the rating, which appears as scrolling text on the front page of its site, is based on over 1 million user searches seeking to register .SUCKS domain names.

For convenience, the names are divided into categories. For example, Taylor Swift’s cat (TayloySwiftsCat), which gained renown after it badly scratched the singer’s legs, which had been insured for a significant amount, tops the list in the “Personalities” category, followed by Justin Bieber (JustinBieber) and Kevin Spacey (KevinSpacey). Cancer ranks at the top of the “most sucky” causes, followed by technology (Technology) and obesity (Obesity). Not surprisingly, the “most sucky” companies includes tech giants Apple, Google, and Microsoft.

With 10 days remaining before the end of the Sunrise period this is mostly likely a publicity stunt by Vox Populi to lure trademark owners to register "unpleasant" domains before someone else does. There’s no question that Vox Populi has been rather successful so far in getting the media’s attention.
