Uniregistry declared victory getting the right to administer domain .GAME, reports informed resource Domaininvesting.com. The company managed to outdo such serious contenders as Google, Amazon, and also Dot Game Limited and Beijing Gamease Age Digital Technology Co. Ltd. All of them have withdrawn their applications.
The thing is, however, that the fate of .GAME domain was supposed to be determined on an ICANN auction. .GAMES domain was also placed on auction. This scheme automatically implied that only one of two similar domains would exist on the net. Now however after the private auction was held the situation gets more complicated. Uniregistry won .GAME, and Donuts, the only applicant for .GAMES domain haven’t withdrawn its application. It seems that both domains will coexist on the Internet. The official position of ICANN on this issue is still unknown.
