Yesterday new top-level domain .VIDEO has entered the Early Access Program (EAP). Domain investors should definitely pay attention to the domain zone that seems to be quite promising. This is clear from the results of Sunrise period. Trademark owners listed in the Trademark Clearinghouse database usually don’t hurry to register domains in new gTLDs. However, more than 460 names were registered during the Sunrise period in .VIDEO domain. This is one of the best results among all new domains.
Such giants as Amazon, Apple and Microsoft are among the companies that have registered their brands. Obviously, leading TV companies and channels couldn’t ignore the “field-specific” domain: Showtime, MTV, Nickelodeon, Fox, HBO and Discovery have already registered domain names in .VIDEO. One of the biggest sport leagues in the world – the National Hockey League – also paid attention to the domain. Celebrities registered domain names as well, for example, Katy Perry has registered KatyPerry.video.
“We are really excited about the level of brand participation during the .VIDEO sunrise period”, Matt Overman from Rightside that operated .VIDEO told Thedomains.com. “It’s been our most active sunrise to date and we are hopeful that this momentum carries thru to EAP and beyond.”
It seems that there actually are reasons for this hope. It should be noted that 85% of all premium names in .VIDEO (there are more than 30 thousand names registered) could be registered for less than $200 per year, which is a reasonable sum even for private investors.
