Famous pop singer Lady Gaga became one of the celebrities that turned their attention to the new gTLDs that, we must admit, are not so popular yet. In general celebrities only want to protect their interests by registering their own names in potentially “compromising” domains .PORN and .SUCKS.
Which makes it even more pleasant to observe actions of a different kind. As it became known, Lady Gaga re-domained her charitable foundation Born This Way to a new domain .FOUNDATION. Lady Gaga found Born This Way foundation in 2011. It’s aim it to “create a kinder and braver world” primarily for young people, including homosexuals. Domain .FOUNDATION was delegated on February 11 last year. It is operated by Donuts, which believes that the main registrants of this new gTLD should be different non-profit and charitable organizations. As of the moment there are a little more than 5300 names registered.
New webpage of Lady Gaga’s foundation is BORNTHISWAY.FOUNDATION. The old domain bornthiswayfoundation.org, however, is also being used but only to redirect the visitors. It’s hard to tell yet whether the decision to change the domain was made by the singer herself or not. Donuts refuse to comment on the event, neither denying, nor confirming the suspicions that this step was initiated by the company under the promotion of .FOUNDATION.
