On March 17 Sunrise period for the new gTLD .IRISH was launched. Considering that exactly that day was the celebration of the patron saint of Ireland Saint Patrick, the moment was chosen very successfully. However, nobody is counting on the high activity of registrants after the first day since all over the world St Patrick’s Day is more of a drinking marathon than anything else.
Sunrise period will end on May 17, after that anyone no matter what nationality or place of residence will be able to register their name in .IRISH domain. According to Dot-Irish registry, about 75 million people belong to the «Irish diaspora» worldwide.
