New gTLD .REISE became the first live top-level domain to be auctioned off. As it was reported earlier, its former owner, Dotreise, decided against further development of the domain, probably, disappointed by the results. Since the August of last year only a bit more than 1300 names were registered in the domain zone.
Donuts is the new owner of the domain. It should be noted that it is already managing .REISEN domain, that was previously viewed as the direct competitor to .REISE. Both words mean «travel» in German, however, reise is a singular noun and reisen is a verb and a plural form of reise. Thus, Donuts is the first company that operates both the singular and the plural forms of a new gTLD.
,p> The cost of the deal paid by Donuts haven’t been reported, however, it is known that the starting price at the auction for the .REISE domains was $400 thousand.
