Applicants for a new gTLD .BLOG determined the fate of .BLOG gTLD during a closed private auction. Considering the popularity of blogs online, many experts call .BLOG one of the most promising and potentially successful domains among all new gTLDs. This is why there is nothing surprising that for example Google corporation claimed it, as well as big players of the domain market, such as Radix, Minds+Machines, Donuts and Afilias.
What is surprising is that all of them withdrew their applications in the end. The winner for the domain is a Panamanian company Primer Nivel. It is the affiliate of the Colombian registrar CCI REG, which runs my.co. Obviously, Colombians managed to offer an amount that seemed too much even for «heavyweights». According to reports from various sources, the winning bid on the closed auction could have been $15-$30 million, however, all experts agree that the amount most likely was eight-figure.
