The New gTLD Program has passed another milestone. Last week ICANN delegated 500th new domain. It was dot-brand .NTT, owned by Japanese telecom firm Nippon Telegraph and Telephone.
At the moment the number of delegated domains has reached 506. Daily statistics is impressive as well. For the last 12 months 374 generic top-level domains were added to the DNS root zone. Thus, every day at least one new domain is added to the root zone each day. Meanwhile, the total number of new generic domains that can be delegated exceeds 1300, which means that the New gTLD Program is not even half-way yet.
