The fate of two new gTLDs was sealed last week. Donuts expanded its quite extensive portfolio with domain .CAFE. This became known when the only competing application was withdrawn by Punto 2012 registry. It already owns domains .BAR and .REST (comes from «restaurant») and clearly placed stakes on the food services segment of the domain market. However, representatives of Donuts (that by the way also owns the domain RESTAURANT) were insistent.
Donuts also participated in the private auction for the domain .BET along with two of the large players of the domain market - Famous Four Media and Afilias, also a British company Ladbrokes, that specializes in the area of gaming and betting on sporting events. Actually, one of the main meanings of the word bet is a bookmaker’s bet, that is why the clientele of the new domain seems rather obvious. But neither British professionals of the gaming business, not Donuts were lucky this time. The highest stake for the domain was offered by Afilias, that won the auction.
