Registry agreements for eight new gTLDs signed

Corporation ICANN announced that registry agreements were signed for eight new generic top-level domains. Signing the agreement with registries is one of the most important steps that formally confirms that new domains «have right to live». Thus, we can say with a 100% guarantee that very soon 8 domains will be added to the DNS root zone.

Domain .SUCKS, of course, deserves special attention. Because of its «negative connotations» (the word sucks is a rude equivalent of the word «lame») it became an subject of many complaints and objections from the governments of different countries, NGOs and politicians. However, ICANN demonstated admirable persistence time after time not seeing anything wrong with the existence of a domain, the name of which could be an insult itself. As a result Vox Populi Registry has bitten its contenders for the domain. According to unconfirmed reports, it paid over $3 million in the private auction of applicants. It signed the registry agreement with ICANN.

Also agreements were signed for domains .BROADWAY, .CISCO, .DEALER, .LOVE, .STORAGE, .WATCHES and .网站.
