On December 24th, the Christmas eve, the general availability phase was launchd in two new generic top-level domains - .REHAB and .DENTIST. Both domain zones are administered by Rightside registry. The word rehab means rehabilitation center and is used primarily in the context of the fight against drug and alcohol addiction. However, Rightside representatives highlight that potential registrants of the new domain are not limited to narcologists. The word rehab also means capital repair of the building and rehabilitation after an illness.
As for the .DENTIST domain, its audience is quite obvious. By the way, it should be noted that the prices in these zones are a little bit higher than in other Rightside domains. Registration fee depending on the registrar and offered discounts varies from $35 to $50, when in the other domains of the registry it doesn’t exceed $30.
Observers ironically point out that the moment to lauch general availability is hardly ideal: it is hard to imagine that on the Christmas eve dentists on’t have anything better to do but to register domains. But the chances are better in regard of narcologists - after the holidays someone might actually need a rehab.
