Verisign has released its third-quarter performance results suggesting that the company has successfully overcome the challenges with which it struggled in the second quarter when Verisign added just 420,000 registrations to its .com/.net base – a very modest result for Verisign.
Certain analysis immediately attributed the change to the active launch of several top-level domains – a conclusion that later proved erroneous. In the third quarter, Verisign again showed rapid growth. The registration base for .com and .net increased by 1.15 million domain names.
In July-September, the company sold 8.7 million new domain name registrations, compared to 8.3 million for the same period in 2013. The company reported revenue of $255 million for the third quarter of 2014, up 4.7 percent from the same quarter in 2013, while its registration base reached 130 million domain names.
