Corporation ICANN has approved Iraq’s request for a new IDN عراق.. The name in Arabic means “Iraq”. Government’s Communications and Media Commission will be the registry. It already administers national domain of the country in English language .iq.
Unfortunately, it is extremely difficult to judge when the new domain will be launched, since political situation in Iraq remains unstable and it is impossible to predict its course of development. Domain عراق. Is 33 IDN approved by ICANN. 26 of them are already in the DNS root at the moment.
