Over 40 percent of registrations in new domains are made in Donuts gTLDs

Donuts announces preliminary results of its work in the new gTLDs program. Out of 2.1 million registrations in all new gTLDs, Donuts’ share is 867800 domains or 41.1%. “Surpassing two million registrations is a significant landmark for the new gTLD program and a continuing testament to the strong global demand for specific, relevant domains,” Paul Stahura, one of the founders of Donuts, said. “As more and more targeted, user-focused domains coming online in the next few months, we expect the evolution of the Internet's global addressing system to continue rapidly.”

Donuts is soon launching registrations in a significant number of promising new domains. Thus, a period of Sunrise Availability is opened already in .RESTAURANT and .GIFTS domains. September 30 it opens in domains .PIZZA, .BUSINESS, and .NETWORK. Moreover, in September General Availability period starts in domains .DIGITAL, .ACCOUNTANTS, .FINANCE, .INSURE, .LOANS, .LIFE, .GUIDE, .CHURCH, .DIRECT, .PLACE and .DEALS.

Marina Nikerova, senior deputy director at Technical Center of Internet, believes that Donuts have chosen the most successful and demanded top-level domains that found their users in the world. “It has been stated many times that new gTLDs are mostly niche, they are created to be used by different communities – geographical, professional, united by these or that interests. Secret of success of a new domain lies in choosing a numerous community whose members are active online. Apparently, Donuts has managed to do that”, she said.
