The Torrentz.eu domain name, one of the largest torrent trackers with a daily audience of several million people, has been suspended following a request from the UK’s Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit.
However, according to TorrentFreak.com, the website still operates at two other domain names, Torrentz.ch and Torrentz.me. Moreover, the domain owners are hoping to move the .EU domain name to another registrar.
This move was part of a large-scale effort by the UK Police to shut down domains providing links to pirated content. The City of London Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit announced that more than 2,500 domain names had been suspended by European registrars in April at the request of UK law enforcement bodies.
