The new domain extension .club, which became available for public registration only on May 7, has proved quite successful and will very likely be able to compete with the current leaders. There were at least 15,000 registrations just a few hours after registration opened. By the end of the first day, .club was in the top ten.
By the end of the first week, the string was already in the top three most registered gTLDs among the new extensions, after pushing .photography – which had been third for quite a long time – into fourth place. Currently, there are 36,742 registrations under .club. The second most popular is .berlin, a city domain extension with 47,529 registrations. The leading gTLD is .guru with 55,871 registrations.
