ICANN has announced two key executive appointments as part of its efforts to engage global partners. According to Sally Costerton, Senior Adviser to the President, Global Stakeholder Engagement, “ICANN is expanding its global presence, giving us the opportunity to reach stakeholders at every corner of the globe. As we expand, it is crucial that we have experienced and effective leadership in key regions to allow these stakeholders to engage with us.”
The position of ICANN’s Regional Vice President, Global Stakeholder Engagement for Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe was given to Mikhail Yakushev, a renowned expert in legal regulation of cyber security, who previously served as chairman of the Coordination Center Council for TLD RU/РФ and held key positions in the Russian offices of Microsoft, PayPal and Mail.ru.
Jean-Jacques Sahel, known for his work with Skype, Microsoft and a number of government agencies, took the position of ICANN’s Regional Vice President, Global Stakeholder Engagement for Europe.
