Since the development of gTLD domains, many of issues have arisen that will go down in Internet history as firsts. Now, the first complaint has been filed against a domain name registered within a new gTLD domain.
The claim was filed by Canyon Bicycles GmbH, a German bicycle producer, over the domain name Canyon.Bike registered on February 5. The claim will be considered under the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP). Earlier, IBM filed a similar complaint at the National Arbitration Forum (NAF) for the domains IBM.guru and IBM.ventures. However, in this case the complaint will be resolved within the Uniform Rapid Suspension Procedure (URS). Canyon.Bike will consequently be the first domain registered within gTLD to change (or not change, depending on the jury’s decision) its owner under the UDRP.
