Dutch company SIDN, administrator of .nl, national domain of the Netherlands, published a report entitled «Trends in Internet use 2013». SIDN professionals analyzed preferences of Dutch users of global network and came to some interesting conclusions.
In particular, they state that popularity of social networks has past its peak. And even though social networks remain extremely attractive for both ordinary users and businesses, symptomatic changes have emerged in relation to them. Thus, the majority of businessmen in Holland do not consider creation of groups in social networks as an effective tool to promote their brands or advertise goods or services. They keep using social media, but at the same time prefer to register new domains for advertising and marketing purposes.
The number of new domains has dramatically decreased in Holland. And even though its number has increased in comparison to last year, this increase was reached by private users. In 2012 no member of 74% of Dutch families had a domain registered in his name, in 2013 there are 69% of such families.
