The First Amendment guarantees freedom of speech for domain names as well

World-renowned rating agency Standard & Poor’s haven't succeeded in having a domain name transferred. This domain the agency considered being an infringement on their rights. World Intellectual Property Organization, having considered the complaint of Standard & Poor’s on domain BoycottStandardandPoors.com, found no grounds for its satisfaction.

Administrator of the domain in response to complaints from Standard & Poor’s referred to the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that guarantees freedom of speech and press. But perhaps an even more significant fact is that despite the domain registration, administrator of the domain hasn't yet created any web resource. Hence it is impossible to judge maliciousness of registration and usage of the domain for now. This was the verdict of WIPO jury, but they did not rule out the possibility of filing a new complaint by Standard & Poor’s once it is possible to judge domain’s content.
