ICANN has published the list of blocked domain names for 1327 new top-level domains. 9,8 million of second-level domains’ registration was prohibited because of the risk of possible conflicts due to the similarity of strings and other reasons.
Experts have estimated that one top-level domain accounts for an average of 7346 blocked second-level domains because of the potential collisions. However, these are just average numbers. Leader in blocked domain names is the domain .wow, that Amazon, Google and Demand Media continue to claim. Regardless of which company will become the administrator of the domain zone, 205 447 second-level domains will be blocked because of it.
