Johnson & Johnson lost a dispute for Johnsons.com. The domain was registered in 1997, and it’s been the second attempt of Johnson & Johnson to claim the domain by proving violation of their rights.
The first attempt ended in failure as the Arbitrary Panel found the domain had been registered and used without violating Johnson & Johnson’s rights. However, in the past years the domain has changed the owner and, moreover, has been linked to a website offering advertising for Johnson and Johnson's goods. That provided some hope for the the complainant.
Nevertheless, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) panel rejected the complaint. The respondent’s lawyer proved that the owner of the current named registrant of the domain name was closely related to the previous holder, thus the change of the owner was, in fact, just formal.
As a result, the Arbitrary Panel rejected the claim, leaving Johnsons.com to its previous owners.
