Now in the USA a case for Healthcare.gov and its “twins” is actively discussed. Medical insurance system reforming is one of the main issues of Barack Obama’s presidential program. In the frames of this program since the beginning of October Healthcare.gov site has been launched. Here those Americans who cannot pay for the insurance can fill in an application for medical insurance governmental funding.
However because of numerous technical problems the site works really bad, often it doesn’t work at all, which caused a lot of criticism. Moreover, it turned out that there is another serious problem: site Healthcare.com. The existing domain was registered in 2006 by Jose Vargas and Matias de Tezanos. Later they also registered domains Healthcare.org and Healthcare.net. There is information and useful advice for medical insurance located on these resources. As Vargas himself explains the resources were created to attract advertisers and perhaps for further resale.
Today this aim looks quite realistic: from the moment of launching the governmental resource Healthcare.gov traffic on Vargas and Tezanos’ sites grew up 10 times. Some mass media have already accused the businessmen in cybersquatting, however they definitely refuse the charges, fairly claiming they had purchased and registered their domains long before Obama became President and declared on medical reform plans.
The biggest part of web-experts are quite sceptical about the US Government’s actions towards Healthcare.gov site launch. They point out that it had been at least strange not to check out the existence of similar names. The thing is that many Americans are so used to domain names .com that they type them in the browsers’ address bar automatically, and many don’t even know about the existence of other top-level domains.
